It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to safely travel to conferences, and we’ve missed connecting with everyone in person! We’re excited to be back attending events and looking forward to what’s to come in 2022. For the events we’ve attended recently, we thought it would be useful to share our observations.
Open Minds Care Innovation Summit
In October, we attended the Open Minds Care Innovation Summit in Las Vegas. This event was focused on technology and brought together all types of electronic health record (EHR) vendors. Over 200 people attended the event, almost all decision makers. HiMS was excited to network with the attendees and discuss the value of our EHR platform, Axiom.
Other large vendors relied on flashy, large booths to attract potential customers, while HiMS opted for a standard 8×10, letting our product speak for itself. Confession: we also had some really delicious chocolates to help start discussions. While we were speaking with one prospect, a current customer who was walking by overhead the conversation and immediately jumped in to recommend Axiom. We’re incredibly honored to have such great customers and continually work to earn their business by going above and beyond to meet their requirements.
The benefits of Axiom that stood out the most to potential customers we talked to were its monthly billing structure, which includes all updates and customizations in a single fee, and its mobile capabilities. Most of the feedback we heard was that health care providers were exhausted by the “nickel and diming” practices of their EHR vendor, who charges extra money for every update or change. It’s also clear that throughout the health care industry, the demand for mobile is on the rise. We are fortunate that our CEO recognized this trend early on and made mobile a part of our Axiom software from the outset.
OPEN MINDS Executive Leadership Retreat
Earlier in October, we attended the OPEN MINDS Executive Leadership Retreat in Gettysburg, Pa. This event had a much broader health care focus, resulting in HiMS being the only EHR vendor in attendance. Overall, OPEN MINDS provided us with excellent resources to showcase our transformational EHR platform and the company recently announced HiMS as bronze-level partner.
By attending both events, each with a unique focus, we observed a couple of trends, including:
- The importance of compliance with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV).
- The increase of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in the behavioral health industry, as these centers regularly receive higher reimbursement rates.
These topics were top–of–mind for many of the attendees we spoke with, and it was gratifying to report to them that Axiom is EVV compliant and works seamlessly for FQHCs.
The next conferences on our schedule are the OPEN MINDS Performance event in Clearwater, Florida, Feb. 15-17 and The National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s NATCON, April 11-13, 2022 at National Harbor in Washington, D.C.
If you are considering attending either of these events, we encourage you to reach out to us before, during, or after the event. To learn more about Axiom or to request a demo today, click here.
